Fabric Friends, Makers & Quilting Kindreds
As 2025 folds itself into the archive, we just wanted to pause for a moment and say a truly heartfelt thank you. For almost 23 years, The Oz Material Girls has been more than a fabric store. It’s been a meeting place for ideas, shared projects, late-night stash chats, bobbin triumphs, quilt dreams, and a community that constantly reminds us why creativity matters.
You’ve made this journey unforgettable: every order, every message, every photo of your makes, and every laugh we’ve shared in the comments. We don’t take a single one for granted.
And now? It’s 2026!
A fresh bolt of possibility has arrived, selvage crisp, colours bright, and absolutely ready for stitching into something amazing.

As the TOMG workshop hums with creativity, our cutting table transforms into a stage where fabric bolts shine like headline acts. This week we’re slicing into May Gibbs Garden Playtime, celebrating gumnut babies, koalas and dreamy Australian botanicals, while also diving into the bold industrial charm of the Steampunk Menagerie collection, where mechanical beasts and gear-driven wonders steal the spotlight.

Australia Day Spotlight Edition
As 2026 begins, we’re threading the new year with fresh inspiration and a proudly Aussie celebration waiting in the wings. In the TOMG studio, our cutting table has already become the creative compass guiding us into a year filled with colour, pattern, and community connection. With Australia Day sewing just around the corner, we’re shining a well-deserved spotlight on some of our favourite homegrown designers whose artwork makes fabric feel like a living gallery: Natalie Parker, Carlie Edwards, Kayla Reay, Chris Riley, and Karin Roberts.
Their designs capture the spirit of the landscapes we know, the animals we adore, and the kind of artistry that turns everyday sewing into something collectors cherish and makers love to stitch into their next project.
